John M. Hooks

Chairman of the Board, CEO

Mr. Hooks has been the CEO of Phoenix Technology Income Fund since 1995 and Chairman of the Board of Phoenix since 2000. He was President of Phoenix Energy Services from 1995 until 2015. Previous to joining Phoenix, Mr. Hooks founded Thread Tech Energy Systems Ltd., a private connection manufacturing and Fiberspar composite line pipe distribution company in 1985. Thread Tech became Fiberspar Canada and provided services to the oil and gas industry until its assets were sold in June 2003. Mr. Hooks has over 30 years of experience in the Canadian and International oil and gas service industry, including operations, senior management and ownership positions.

 
Myron Tétreault

Lead Director

Mr. Tétreault has been Chairman of Calafate Holdings Ltd., a private investment management and venture capital company, since 1999. He is also a co-founder and director of Echo Merchant Fund II Limited Partnership, Fitzroy Developments Ltd., Northern Vision Development Corp., Microplanet Technology Corp. and Webber Academy Foundation.   He was the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Phoenix from 1997 to 2007. Mr. Tétreault was one of the founders of Total Energy Services Ltd., where he served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from November 1996 to July 2000. From August 1993 to December 1997 Mr. Tétreault was a corporate and securities lawyer with the law firm of Bennett Jones Verchere (now Bennett Jones, LLP). Mr. Tétreault obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 and his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Ottawa in 1988. He is a director or officer of several other private companies.

 
Randy Charron

Director

Mr. Charron is the President of Star Valley Drilling Limited, a private Canadian drilling contractor with operations in Canada and West Africa, and has served as a Director since November, 2015. He also serves as Director of Calgary Airport Authority (since 2019) and is President of Characo Corporation, a private oil and gas investment and consulting firm. He was a founding director of Xtreme Drilling and Coil Services, a founding director and Vice President of Artisan Corporation  a publicly traded  Canadian oil field service provider. Historically he has also served as a member the board of directors of Nevis Energy Services Ltd., Savanna Energy Services Corp., Plains Energy Services Ltd,  Player Petroleum Corporation, New Syrus Capital Corporation, Drillers Technology Ltd, Artisan Corporation, Artisan Drilling Ltd, and Wrangler West Energy Corp.  As well Mr. Charron has served the industry as a director of the Canadian Association of Oil Well Drilling Contractors(CAODC), Chairman or the Petroleum Industry Annual Safety Seminar and Director of Program Committee of the Petroleum Industry Training Services (PITS). Mr. Charron obtained a BA from McMaster University.

 
Karen David-Green

Director

Ms. David-Green has 30 years of experience in senior leadership positions on Wall Street and as a C-Suite Executive and Officer, she delivers high-impact experience in capital markets, acquisitions and divestitures, strategy, business and cultural transformation, sustainability, risk management and marketing and communications. Previously, she was a member of the Executive Leadership Team at Expro Group where she served as Chief Stakeholder, Communications, and Sustainability Officer. During her tenure at Weatherford International plc from 2010-2020, Ms. David-Green was a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Chief Marketing Officer, Sr. Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement, President of the Weatherford Foundation, Inc., Chairwoman of the Sustainability Leadership Council, and Executive Member of the Disclosure and Global Business Continuity and Planning Committees. Earlier in her career she was responsible for energy investment research and providing financial forecasts to institutional clients globally at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., Crédit Agricole and Royal Bank of Canada.

Ms. David-Green earned her BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and a specialized executive certification from the University of Cambridge. Ms. David-Green is Directorship Certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and NACD Certified in Cybersecurity Oversight. Ms. David-Green also serves as an Independent Director for NOW Inc. (NYSE: DNOW).

 
Larry Hibbard

Director

Mr. Hibbard has spent over thirty years of his career in the drilling services industry, the majority of which was with Schlumberger Limited. He has an extensive background in acquisitions, operations, marketing, technology, and engineering. Throughout his career he held numerous senior management positions primarily related to international operations, including Region Vice President of Directional Drilling - Worldwide, Vice President of Marketing - North America, and Vice President of North and South America. These positions lead Mr. Hibbard to work in the directional drilling sector in Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Burma. He was also Vice President of Marketing Worldwide for Sedco Forex (a predecessor of Transocean) and Vice President General Manager Worldwide of IPM, a high growth Integrated Project Management group. Currently, Mr. Hibbard is an independent business man who is a Co-founder and current Director of Highland Fluid Technology Ltd., a company deploying unique chemistry and technology to the drilling, fracing and completion business. In past he has served on the Board of Xtreme Coil Drilling Corp, TrigPoint Solutions Inc. and numerous other oilfield service companies. He has completed the comprehensive program of study, through National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and achieved the designations of both Board Leadership and Board Governance Fellow.

 
Roger Thomas

Director

Mr. Thomas has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry and extensive knowledge of business strategy and macro industry trends. Currently, Mr. Thomas serves as Chairman of the Board,  member of  Audit, Risk and Environment Governance and Human Resources Committees of Fortis Alberta Ltd.; The majority of his career was at Nexen Inc (“Nexen”) where he held various senior executive positions, including Executive Vice President of North America, Chief Executive Officer and President of Nexen Canada, and Senior Vice President of the Canadian Oil and Gas division including Nexen Chemicals Canada LP. In addition, Mr. Thomas is a very active member of the industry and community, with some of his past roles including Vice President of the Alberta Chamber of Resources, Chair of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (“CAPP”), Chair of The Nature Conservancy of Canada (Saskatchewan Region), and Division Co-Chair for the Calgary United Way (Engineering, Energy Services Supply Division). In addition, he was a member of the Premier of Alberta's recent Carbon Capture and Storage Council and assisted with the Department of Energy’s most recent Royalty review.  Mr. Thomas served on Flint Energy Services Ltd.’s Board of Directors for the past three years and was Chairman of the Compensation Committee and a Member of the Environment, Health, Safety and Risk Management Committee.

 
Terry D Freeman
Director

Mr. Freeman is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and is Head of Investments for ATB Capital. He is a member of the Board of McCoy Global, a tubular handling equipment business and serves as a member of the Boards for a number of private real estate, construction and energy services businesses. Mr. Freeman was Managing Director of Northern Plains Capital Corporation from 2007 to 2012 and was  a member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Flint Energy Services Ltd from 2007 to 2012.
